OUR HORSES Our two Norweigian Fjord ponies, Ettena and Ragnar, make up the foundation of our riding program. The "Fjords" are taller than a common pony, between 13 and 14 hands and very strong. |
The gentle and sweet disposition of these horses, along with a smooth walking gait that closely resembles the movement associated with a human gait, make them perfect for use as therapeutic riding horses.

Norweigian Fjord
The Fjord was the Vikings' horse and is bred principally in Norway. In its native land, the powerful Fjord carries out every sort of work, taking the place of the tractor on mountain farms. It is a brilliant performer in harness and can hold its own in demanding, competitive events. Under a saddle, it excels in long-distance events, which suit its courage and boundless stamina.
From early Viking times, it has been the custom to cut the coarse mane so that it stands erect, with the black hair at the center of the mane standing out above the rest.
